Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Pickup Truck on Highway 58 near West Pozo Road

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (June 5, 2023) Peggy Masuda was killed in a motorcycle accident in San Luis Obispo Saturday afternoon on June 3.

The fatal accident happened around 1:46 p.m. on Highway 58, just north of West Pozo Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Masuda was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail motorcycle southbound on Highway 58 at an unknown speed. Meanwhile, 74-year-old Danny Oster was driving a Ford Raptor northbound on the same route at 35 mph.

First responders rushed Masuda to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Masuda was pronounced dead. She was 52 years old from Oxnard.

Oster only sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

Drugs or alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
