BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 16, 2021) – Police identified Pedro Torres as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Edison Highway on July 11.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Mount Vernon Avenue around 12:30 AM.
 
Based on reports, the 37-year-old man was walking outside a crosswalk onto westbound Edison at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck him. Then, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
 
As a result, Bakersfield resident Pedro Moreno Torres died in the crash.
 
Witnesses described the vehicle as an older, silver compact sedan with a damaged headlight.
