Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Pickup on 5 Freeway in Oceanside

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (January 1, 2023) – A pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on 5 Freeway in Oceanside Wednesday morning.
 
The crash happened just before 11:25 a.m. on December 28, at the eastbound Mission Road off-ramp. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the female pedestrian was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a pickup truck hit her.
 
After the crash, the pickup truck drove off without stopping.
 
The woman suffered major injuries. A helicopter rushed her to a trauma hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Police described the pickup truck as an older model red Ford F-150 with extended cab. The driver was a man between the ages of 30 and 50.
 
An investigation is ongoing. Authorities urged witnesses to call the CHP’s North County office at 760-643-3400.
