66-Year-Old Scott Laughlin Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Westwood

 
WESTWOOD, CA (April 22, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run on 405 Freeway in the Westwood area of Los Angeles on Monday, April 11.
 
Police identified the victim as 66-year-old Scott Laughlin of Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. on 405 Freeway between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, Laughlin was running near the southbound shoulder of the freeway when he suddenly veered into traffic and was hit by a vehicle.
 
After the accident, the driver did not stop to render aid. Authorities believe the car involved may have been a white Toyota sedan.
 
First responders pronounced Laughlin dead at the scene.
 
At this time, it is unclear why the victim was running in the freeway. Further investigation is underway.
