Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on James Road near North Chester Avenue [Oildale, CA]

59-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on James Road in Oildale

 
OILDALE, CA (March 24, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on James Road in Oildale late Wednesday evening on March 22.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:39 p.m. just east of North Chester Avenue Extension. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 59 year-old woman from Bakersfield was walking within the westbound lanes on James Road when an unknown vehicle traveling westbound on James Road struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the driver of the vehicle took off leaving the woman with major injuries.
 
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Investigating officers request anyone with information about this case to call the Bakersfield CHP office at 661-396-6600.
