Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Big Rig on Highway 101 in Ventura

 
VENTURA, CA (March 5, 2024) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in Ventura Monday evening on March 4.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. near the Seacliff interchange. The area is south of the La Conchita community. According to the CHP, a semitrailer was traveling southbound on the highway when it struck the male pedestrian.
 
After the crash, the big rig initially pulled over on the right shoulder. The driver then fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived.
 
Witnesses described the male pedestrian kneeling in a lane, facing traffic with his hands up, just before the big rig struck him.
 
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office is still working on his identity.
 
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP’s Ventura-area office.
