DUI Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian on El Cajon Boulevard in Colina Del Sol

 
COLINA DEL SOL, CA (May 5, 2024) – A pedestrian was killed in a DUI crash on El Cajon Boulevard in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood of San Diego Thursday evening on May 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:10 p.m. near 50th Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, the male pedestrian was running south in the 4900 block of El Cajon Boulevard. At the same time, a 20-year-old man was driving east on El Cajon.
 
For unknown reasons, the pedestrian stopped, turned around and ran north into the path of the vehicle and was struck.
 
The impact caused the pedestrian major head trauma.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where the 44-year-old victim died.
 
Police arrested the 20-year-old driver for DUI.
