59-Year-Old Man Killed in San Marcos Pedestrian Accident on East Mission Road

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 19, 2024) – A 59-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on East Mission Road, early Thursday morning.
 
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on January 18, at about 4:32 a.m. The pedestrian was crossing the west crosswalk when an eastbound silver Dodge Ram truck hit him near Mulberry Drive.
 
The 61-year-old Dodge driver remained and immediately called 911.
 
Emergency crews later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The sheriff’s department continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the San Marcos Traffic Unit at (760) 510-5200.
