49-Year-Old Woman Killed, Briana Contreras Arrested after Wrong-Way Crash in Del Cerro

 
DEL CERRO, CA (January 19, 2024) – A 49-year-old woman died in a wrong-way accident on 8 Freeway, early Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 13, at about 12:45 a.m. An eastbound Honda Civic was reportedly traveling on the westbound side of the freeway. A short time later, the Honda collided with a westbound Nissan Kicks near College Avenue.
 
Emergency crews transported the Nissan driver to a trauma center, where she later died. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The Honda driver, identified as 24-year-old Briana Michelle Contreras, suffered serious injuries. Officers later arrested Contreras on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/or drugs and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
 
She will be booked into county jail upon her release from medical care.
