BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 4, 2023) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Highway 99 at 7th Standard Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 1:04 a.m. Monday. For an unknown reason, a driver of an unknown make and model struck a man who walked directly into the vehicle’s path. The driver reportedly entered the on-ramp at Highway 99 South when the crash happened.
 
Shortly after, officers responded to the scene and found the victim with fatal injuries. Traffic investigators ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible factors in the incident. However, the accident remains under investigation. If any witnesses can help the CHP, please call their department.
