Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Several Vehicles on 5 Freeway in Newhall

 
NEWHALL, CA (May 10, 2023) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by several cars on the 5 Freeway near Highway 118.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened Sunday evening.
 
For an unknown reason, a reportedly naked 30-year-old Arleta man began crossing the northbound lanes on foot. After reaching the center median, he tried to cross the southbound lanes but an oncoming 2014 Scion, driven by a 40-year-old Baldwin Park woman, struck him. Several other vehicles ran over the man, but the woman was the only one who stayed at the scene.
 
Soon after, CHP officers responded and found the body on the carpool and second leftmost lanes.
 
Following an investigation, authorities did not charge or cite the woman for any crimes. However, authorities will look closer into this crash to identify an explanation. If anyone has additional details surrounding this accident, please call the CHP.
