Passenger Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Valley Center Road near Thundernut Lane [Valley Center, CA]

Two-Vehicle Crash on Valley Center Road Kills Passenger and Leaves 1 Driver with Life-Threatening Injuries

 
VALLEY CENTER, CA (May 8, 2023) – A passenger died in a two-vehicle accident on Valley Center Road Thursday evening on May 4.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:55 p.m. just east of Thundernut Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old San Diego man was driving a blue Subaru BRZ in the southbound lane of Valley Center Road. At the same time, a 55-year-old San Diego woman was driving a silver Mercedes S500 in the northbound lane of Valley Center Road.
 
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Subaru veered off the road edge of the southbound lane. He then collided into a rock embankment causing the Subaru to overturn. The Mercedes that was traveling northbound struck the side of the Subaru.
 
As a result, the driver of the Subaru and his 27-year-old female passenger both suffered life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Palomar Medical Center.
 
Sadly, the passenger did not survive and died on Friday morning. She was a Chinese national.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes suffered moderate injuries.
 
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected factors in the crash.
 
An investigation is ongoing. CHP officials asked anyone with further information to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at 760-643-3400.
