Vintage Plane Crashes at Altman Plants Nursery in Fallbrook Killing its Passenger

 
FALLBROOK, CA (July 25, 2022) – A passenger died and a pilot was critically injured in a plane crash at Altman Plants nursery on Saturday afternoon, July 23.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. on Olive Hill Road, less than a mile south of the county-owned Fallbrook Airpark. A witness told the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department they saw the two-seater plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Fallbrook Airpark.
 
The dead body of a back-seat passenger was recovered from inside the plane. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, the pilot was taken to Palomar Hospital trauma center in critical condition.
 
There were no reported injuries or fire on the ground.
 
There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash, which also damaged some of the nursery’s products.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are handling the investigation.
