Police Arrest Driver for DUI after Crash in Palomar Mountain Killing Passenger

 
PALOMAR MOUNTAIN, CA (October 2, 2023) – A passenger died and Jean Ramirez was arrested after a DUI crash in Palomar Mountain early Saturday morning on September 30.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on South Grade Road, just north of Highway 76. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ramirez was driving a black Subaru in the southbound lane of South Grade Road when he drove off the roadway and down a steep hill.
 
The Subaru then overturned and crashed into a tree.
 
A female passenger in the car suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Ramirez, a 20-year-old Escondido resident, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. He was later arrested on felony DUI and homicide-related charges.
