Two Cousins – Steven Ornelas and Oryan Ornelas – Die in Modesto Rollover Accident

 
MODESTO, CA (May 25, 2022) – Two cousins died in a rollover car accident on East Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto on Sunday morning, May 22.
 
The Modesto Police Department identified the victims as 31-year-old Steven Ornelas and 25-year-old Oryan Ornelas, who are cousins from Ceres.
 
The accident happened around 1:20 a.m. just east of Oakdale Road. According to the Modesto Fire Department, police located a dark-colored 2004 Chevy Tahoe on its roof on the north side of the road near a canal.
 
Police believe the driver lost control causing the vehicle to overturn as it crossed over the westbound lanes.
 
Officials stated the occupants of the Tahoe – Oryan and Steven – ejected from the car during the crash.
 
Both Steven and Oryan died at the scene.
 
Crews closed all lanes of East Briggsmore Avenue from Oakdale Road to Lakewood Avenue while they cleared the wreckage.
