Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 101 in Redwood City

 
REDWOOD CITY, CA (October 19, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 in Redwood City Monday evening on October 16.
 
The accident happened around 7:25 p.m. near the Maple Street overcrossing. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian ran from the right shoulder across all lanes of the northbound highway.
 
A car was in the second lane and braked in an attempt to swerve to the right to avoid the pedestrian, but was unable to fully change lanes because another car was in its way. The front left of the car then struck the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the pedestrian suffered major injuries. Paramedics took them to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
An investigation into this accident is ongoing.
