Police Arrest DUI Driver after Crash on Main Street in Barrio Logan Seriously Injuring Passenger

 
BARRIO LOGAN, CA (February 27, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a DUI crash on Main Street in Barrio Logan early Tuesday morning.
 
The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. on February 21. According to the San Diego Police Department, a white sports car was heading west when it crashed into a row of parked vehicles in the 3600 block of Main Street, knocking one of them onto the sidewalk and into the side of a building.
 
After the crash, the driver tried to drive away before the passenger side door opened.
 
According to witnesses, several beer bottles fell out when the door was opened.
 
Responding officers detained the driver and pulled the seriously injured passenger from the car.
 
After paramedics performed CPR and other life-saving measures at the scene, the passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
 
Witnesses said the driver smelled heavily of alcohol. Police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
 
An investigation into this crash is underway.
