Two-Vehicle Accident on Old Oregon Trail in Redding Kills 22-Year-Old Driver

 
REDDING, CA (August 15, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Old Oregon Trail in east Redding Wednesday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:20 p.m. on August 11, at Dir Kinder Way. According to the Redding Police Department, a 2002 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Old Oregon Trail at a high rate of speed when it crossed over the double yellow lines. It then collided with a 2014 Ford F-150, driven by a 62-year-old Castella man.
 
After the crash, the Accord continued southbound before slamming into a tree and coming to a stop in a field. It sustained major damage.
 
Responding officers found the driver of the Accord, a 22-year-old Anderson resident, ejected from the vehicle. They pronounced them dead at the scene.
 
Police said the driver of the Accord was not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
An investigation into this accident is ongoing. Police urged anyone with further information to contact RPD Traffic Unit by calling (530) 225-4200.
