One Killed in Train Crash at Jordan Road and Vista Road [Helendale, CA]

Passenger Dies after BNSF Train Strikes Sedan at Jordan and Vista Roads in Helendale

 
HELENDALE, CA (April 19, 2023) – One person died in a train crash at Jordan Road and Vista Road in the community of Helendale early Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:27 a.m. on April 18. According to the California Highway Patrol, a BNSF train hit a black Ford Mustang that was on the side of the tracks.
 
When officers arrived, they found a male and a dog trapped inside the car. The driver was awake and breathing.
 
Emergency personnel pronounced the passenger dead at the scene.
 
A Mercy Air helicopter landed nearby and airlifted the driver of the vehicle to Antelope Valley Hospital. Officials said he is expected to survive.
 
Apple Valley Animal Control arrived and took possession of the dog.
 
The Victorville California Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
