Two Big Rigs Involved in Deadly Accident on Highway 43 in Tulare County

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 29, 2021) – One person was killed in a big rig accident on Highway 43 in Tulare County Monday morning, April 26.
 
The accident happened just before 8:00 a.m. at Avenue 108. According to the California Highway Patrol, a male Ford driver was traveling south on Highway 43 when he suddenly swerved into the northbound lanes. The Ford then went into the way of an oncoming semi truck.
 
The big rig driver tried to avoid the crash, but the Ford ended up the sideswiping the entire length of the truck. After colliding with the first truck, the Ford lost control and went directly into a second big rig, causing the 18-wheeler to overturn on its side.
 
A passenger in the Ford died at the scene. The Ford driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
 
Both big rig drivers did not sustain any injuries.
 
Authorities are still trying to find out whether drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
