Early Morning Semi Truck Accident on Highway 99 in Red Bluff Ends in Fatality

 
RED BLUFF, CA (May 11, 2021) – One person was killed early Saturday morning after a semi truck accident on Highway 99 in Red Bluff.
 
The accident happened around 12:40 a.m. on May 8 at Bray Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford SUV was trying to pass a vehicle when it went into oncoming lane of traffic and in front of the semi truck.
 
The semi truck was unable to avoid the SUV, and the two vehicles collided. The impact caused the Ford to overturn on its side, trapping one person inside.
 
Responding paramedics performed life-saving aid, but one person died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Crews closed the northbound lanes of the highway while they cleared the wreckage.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still trying to determine the factors involved in the accident.
