Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Main Avenue in Orangevale

 
ORANGEVALE, CA (October 3, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident at Main Avenue and Main Street in Orangevale Saturday night on September 30.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. just south of Greenback Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 40-year-old pedestrian from Orangevale walked into the dark road of Main Avenue when a car going at 25 mph struck them.
 
As a result, the victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
The driver, a 60-year-old man from Orangevale, stayed on scene and was not arrested.
 
There are no crosswalks where the crash happened and the road was very dark, officials said.
 
DUI and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
