One Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on 580 Freeway near High Street

 
OAKLAND, CA (April 11, 2022) — A person died after a pedestrian accident on 580 Freeway just after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers received multiple reports of a person walking in the westbound lanes of 580 Freeway just west of High Street.
 
When officers arrived, they discovered the body of a person who had been hit by at least one vehicle. Medics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
 
Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau staff also responded to the scene late Thursday.
 
CHP officers issued a Sig-alert at 9:19 p.m. closing all westbound 580 lanes for around 10 to 15 minutes. Then they opened the roadway’s two left-hand lanes.
 
Officials also closed the roadway’s right-hand lanes until they lifted the Sig-alert at 10:27 p.m.
