Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway in South Sacramento

 
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA (April 25, 2022) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in South Sacramento, early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:10 a.m. on April 24 just north of Florin Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Acura was traveling in the first lane on southbound freeway at around 65 mph when it struck the pedestrian.
 
Authorities said the driver did not have enough time to react when they hit the pedestrian.
 
The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately available, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Alcohol or impairment was not suspected in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
