Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on 210 Freeway in Rialto Turns Deadly

 
RIALTO, CA (July 6, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 210 Freeway in Rialto early Monday morning on July 3.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:30 a.m. at Riverside Avenue. According to the CHP, a vehicle struck the pedestrian who was walking westbound on the freeway. The impact caused the pedestrian significant injuries.
 
Rialto Fire Department responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The driver of the vehicle was assessed by firefighters, but was not transported to a hospital.
 
It is unknown at this time what the pedestrian was doing on the freeway, and whether drugs or alcohol was involved.
 
Further investigation is underway.
