36-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Wilmington

 
WILMINGTON, CA (July 6, 2023) – Juan Arias was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Wilmington Monday evening on July 3.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly after 9:10 p.m. in the 700 block of North Fries Avenue, just near West G Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Arias was igniting fireworks in the street when a speeding SUV struck him.
 
The impact knocked Arias in the air and he landed partially beneath another vehicle exiting a shopping center but was not trapped. He died at the scene. He was 36 years old.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
At this time, police are searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
