One Killed in Head-On Accident at Altamont Pass Road and Northfront Road [Livermore, CA]

Head-On Crash at Altamont Pass and Northfront Roads Leaves 1 Dead

 
LIVERMORE, CA (November 27, 2022) – One person died in a head-on accident at Altamont Pass Road and Northfront Road in Livermore on Thursday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just after 12:50 p.m. on November 24, about three-quarters of a mile east of Greenville Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue Honda Civic sedan was traveling eastbound on Altamont Pass at speeds of between 40 to 50 mph. When it came upon slower-moving traffic, it attempted to pass vehicles and crossed into solid double yellow lines.
 
While heading eastbound in the westbound lane, the Honda collided head-on into a silver Toyota Prius that was traveling westbound at about the same speed.
 
As a result, the passenger in the Honda suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
 
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the Honda’s driver suffered major injuries. The driver of the Toyota and a 16-year-old passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries. Paramedics took them to hospitals for proper treatment.
