Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on Faraday Avenue in Carlsbad Leaves 1 Dead and 2 Injured

 
CARLSBAD, CA (March 31, 2023) – One person was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle accident on Faraday Avenue in Carlsbad Thursday morning on March 30.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:45 a.m. near El Fuerte Street. According to the Carlsbad Police Department, an eastbound Mazda MX-5 slid out of control at high speed across a rain-slick stretch of roadway in the 2700 block of Faraday Avenue. It then collided with a Honda Accord and a Toyota Corolla, and burst into flames.
 
The unidentified driver of the Mazda died at the scene.
 
Paramedics took the other two drivers to hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
Speed and wet conditions were likely factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
