Early Morning Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights Leaves One Person Dead

 
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (February 28, 2024) – One person was killed in a fiery accident on 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights early Tuesday morning on February 27.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:45 a.m. at Indiana Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles and a big rig collided along the southbound side of the freeway for unknown reasons.
 
One car erupted in flames after the crash.
 
Debris from the crash then struck a fourth vehicle traveling northbound.
 
First responded found one person dead inside the burning car. The victim was not yet identified.
 
A second person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
