Fiery Crash Involving Two Vehicles on 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa Leaves 1 Dead

 
COSTA MESA, CA (May 28, 2023) – At least one person was killed after a fiery accident on 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa early Thursday morning on May 25.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:56 a.m. at Harbor Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided along the southbound freeway. The impact caused at least one of the vehicles to burst into flames.
 
When officers arrived, they found one person trapped inside one of the vehicles and was unresponsive. That person was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The crash prompted officials to close several lanes of the freeway through Thursday morning, and a SigAlert was issued for at least four lanes of the freeway at 7:39 a.m.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
