Fatal Big Rig Accident on San Juan Road in Monterey County

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (July 26, 2021) – One person was killed in a big rig accident on San Juan Road in Monterey County Tuesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 4:50 p.m. on July 20, near Murphy Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig and a small sedan collided for unknown reasons.
 
CHP officers responded to the scene and confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident. They did not release the victim’s identity pending next of kin notification.
 
Crews diverted the westbound traffic onto Murphy Road and eastbound traffic onto San Miguel Canyon Road while they cleared the wreckage.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
