BERKELEY, CA (July 26, 2021) – Police Officer Tyler Moore hit and injured a pedestrian at Sacramento Street and Allston Way in Berkeley.
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. According to the Berkeley Police Department, Moore was stopped at a red light on Allston Way facing westbound. When the light turned green, he made a left turn onto Sacramento Street and hit a 54-year-old woman on the crosswalk.
Moore was driving a police vehicle during a non-emergency when he hit the unidentified pedestrian who was walking to the post office.
After the crash, the pedestrian flew and landed on her behind. She then ended up face down near the Sacramento Street median, hitting her face on the concrete.
When the paramedics arrived, they took the pedestrian to a local hospital with a complaint of pain, a fractured knee and swollen right foot. The pedestrian said she has an upcoming orthopedic appointment that will determine whether her knee needs surgery.
An investigation into this crash is underway.
