Semi Truck Crashes into Multiple Vehicles on Highway 58 in Bakersfield Killing One Driver

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 12, 2023) – One person died and another person was injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 58 in Bakersfield on March 2.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:46 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway at H Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2016 Kenworth semi truck did not see traffic stopped ahead of him and crashed into a 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck, as well as several other vehicles.
 
The semi truck driver and the driver of the pickup truck were both taken to Kern Medical Center. Sadly, the driver of the pickup truck did not survive and was declared dead.
 
The driver of the semi was treated for major injuries.
 
The CHP said that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in this crash. Further investigation is underway.
