One Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Accident on 13th Street and Elm Avenue

 
IMPERIAL BEACH, CA (February 9, 2021) — One person suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident on 13th Street on Thursday, February 4.
 
Shortly before 11:00 a.m., the Norfolk Police Division responded near the intersection of 13th Street and Elm Avenue.
 
Officers discovered a jackknifed semi in the southbound lanes of 13th Street. They also found a blue Ford Winstar van that ended up on a sidewalk.
 
According to Cpl. Josh Bauermeister with the Norfolk Police Division, there were two people inside the van. Officers freed the passenger from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
 
Medics transported one of the occupants to the hospital with minor injuries. The lone occupant of the semi was not hurt.
 
The front and passenger side of the van had severe vehicular damage. Authorities said that the car is considered a total loss.
 
The road was covered in snow around 11:15 a.m., however, it was not immediately determined what caused the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
 
Norfolk Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene of the incident.
