Pursuit Crash near Via Princessa in Santa Clarita Injures Innocent Driver

 
SANTA CLARITA, CA (March 13, 2024) – An innocent driver was injured in a pursuit crash near Via Princessa and Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita on Monday afternoon on March 11.
 
Around 3:20 p.m., a CHP officer located a stolen vehicle on the southbound 14 Freeway near Newhall Avenue in Newhall. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the suspect briefly stopped before driving away.
 
The suspect fled northbound onto the Freeway, where the pursuit was initiated. The suspect then exited onto Calgrove Boulevard and fled on surface streets through Newhall into the Canyon Country area.
 
The pursuit came to an end after the suspect crashed into a vehicle near Via Princessa and Sierra Highway.
 
Three people in the stolen vehicle fled on foot after the crash. However, they were later taken into custody at gunpoint by CHP officers and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies who assisted in the chase.

Paramedics took the innocent driver to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
