One Suffered Injuries after Head-On Accident on Esplanade near Basque Norte

 
CHICO, CA (April 22, 2021) — One person sustained injuries in a head-on accident on Esplanade on Tuesday, April 20.
 
According to the police, they received reports of the incident at about 3:20 p.m. near Basque Norte and Esplanade. They described the vehicles involved as a white Toyota SUV and a black Mazda.
 
Officers and medics responded to the scene. They reported that one person had major injuries.
 
There were no reports yet about the events that led to the crash and if impairment played a role.
 
The incident blocked traffic in both directions from DeGarmo Park to Sols Mexican Grill.
 
Officers also closed Esplanade at Tonea Way on Tuesday afternoon.
 
California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
