One Injured in Fiery Accident on 80 Freeway at Willow Avenue [Rodeo, CA]

Early Morning Fiery Crash on 80 Freeway in Rodeo Involve Two Cars and Big Rig

 
RODEO, CA (June 20, 2023) – One person was injured in a fiery accident on 80 Freeway in Rodeo early Saturday morning on June 17.
 
The accident happened around 12:51 a.m. just before the Willow Avenue off-ramp. According to the Contra Costa County Fire Department, two cars and a big rig collided along the westbound freeway.
 
Both cars were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. A gasoline tanker was also involved in the crash.
 
Fire crews assessed the situation and found that the tanker was leaking fuel from a 100 gallon saddle tank. They quickly contained both the fire and the fuel.
 
One person suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
 
Several lanes were closed as Caltrans assessed damage to the freeway
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
