Afternoon Two-Car Accident on Highway 99 in Butte County Injures 1 Driver

 
BUTTE COUNTY, CA (August 14, 2022) – One person was hurt in a two-car accident on Highway 99 in Butte County on Wednesday, August 10.
 
The accident happened around 4:25 p.m. at Meridian Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a white SUV was turning left off of Meridian Road onto Highway 99, pulling directly into the path of a car that was heading northbound on the highway.
 
The impact caused the northbound car to crash into a utility pole on the side of the road, knocking it down before heading through a wire fence. It then overturned on its roof in an orchard on the northbound side of the highway.
 
First responders took the driver of the car that overturned to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the crash.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
