Head-On Crash on 405 Freeway in San Fernando Valley Leaves 1 Hurt

 
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA (September 30, 2023) – One person was hurt in a head-on accident on 405 Freeway in San Fernando Valley Wednesday morning on September 27.
 
The accident happened around 11:50 a.m. about half a mile from the Rinaldi Street exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban dangerously merged to the right, cutting off a driver and nearly colliding into a wall before overcorrecting back to the left.
 
The Chevrolet then veered across the freeway lanes, lost control and collided head-on into a white Jeep SUV in the carpool lane.
 
The impact sent the Chevrolet spinning back out into the center lanes. After a momentary pause, it overcorrected once more and returned in front of the Jeep before crashing into the center median.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Jeep complained of pain. She sustained minor injuries.
 
Debris from the crash was strewn across the freeway lanes and a SigAlert was issued at around 12:24 p.m.
 
It was unclear what caused the suspect driver to crash. An investigation is underway.
