One Airlifted in Motorcycle Accident at Maple Avenue and Sycamore Street [Hesperia, CA]

Motorcyclist Suffers Injuries after Crash with Pickup Truck on Maple Avenue in Hesperia

 
HESPERIA, CA (May 17, 2023) – One person was airlifted in a motorcycle accident at Maple Avenue and Sycamore Street in Hesperia on Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on May 13. According to the Hesperia Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Sycamore approaching the stop sign at Maple. At the same time, a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading southbound on Maple approaching the intersection of Sycamore.
 
The Silverado proceeded through the intersection of Sycamore and was broadsided on the driver’s side by the motorcycle.
 
Responding firefighters requested a helicopter to land at Desert Valley Hospital. The rider was then airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with injuries to the lower extremities.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Silverado was unharmed.
 
The eastbound and westbound lane of Sycamore is controlled by a stop sign. The northbound and southbound lane of Maple is not controlled by a stop sign.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
 
When approaching a stop sign, make sure to slow down and come to a complete stop just before the sign. Scan for any oncoming vehicles, and keep an eye out for possible road hazards. Also, practice defensive driving when entering intersections.
