DUI Driver Strikes Pedestrian on Magnolia Avenue in Riverside Causing Critical Injuries

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (May 17, 2023) – A 36-year-old man was critically injured in a DUI crash at Magnolia Avenue and Skofstad Street in Riverside on Sunday evening.
 
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on May 14. According to the Riverside Police Department, a 34-year-old Corona resident was driving a 1999 Mercedes Benz westbound on Magnolia Avenue between Skofstad Street and La Sierra Avenue when he struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street.
 
Responding paramedics took both men to Riverside Community Hospital where the pedestrian remained in critical condition.
 
Meanwhile, the driver was medically cleared and was later arrested. Authorities booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of DUI.
 
Further investigation is underway.
