Police Arrest DUI Suspect after Chase Ends in Crash in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (July 21, 2023)Nathan Knox was arrested in a DUI crash in Redding Tuesday evening on July 18.
 
Just after 10:30 p.m., an officer tried to pull over an SUV on Sundial Bridge Drive for a lighting problem. The car rapidly accelerated and attempted to evade the officer by driving the wrong way onto eastbound Highway 44.
 
Within six seconds, the SUV crashed into the concrete median near Park Marina Drive.
 
As a result, a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old passengers in the SUV suffered unspecified injuries.
 
Knox, a 23-year-old Cottonwood resident, was the driver of the SUV and was unharmed. Police arrested and booked him into the Shasta County Jail for felony DUI, evading and misdemeanor weapons charges.
 
Redding police said at the time of his arrest, Knox was armed with a handgun.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
