Motorcyclist Dies in DUI Accident on Highway 101, Two Drivers Detained

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 8, 2022) — A motorcyclist died while two drivers were arrested in a DUI crash on Highway 101 on Tuesday, June 7.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at about 3:30 a.m., the 30-year-old male motorcyclist headed southbound on Highway 101 to eastbound 80 Freeway. Then he was involved in a crash and the impact ejected him from his motorcycle.

Authorities said he may have tried to avoid a DUI crash and swerved off the connector. He then landed on a moving vehicle below on the westbound 80 Freeway to the southbound Highway 101 ramp.

That car stopped in lanes of traffic. It was subsequently hit by another car being driven by a suspected DUI driver.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Officials issued a Sig-Alert at 4:00 a.m. for the southbound Highway 101 connector to eastbound 80. The roadway reopened at around 8:45 a.m.

The CHP asks anyone who may have witnessed the collisions to call them at (510) 557-1094.
