Motorcycle Rider Dies after Struck by Van on Highway 33 in Ojai

 
OJAI, CA (March 18, 2024) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on Highway 33 north of Ojai Sunday afternoon on March 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:15 p.m. just north of the Potrero John Trailhead. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 66-year-old Oxnard man was riding a 2020 Yamaha R1 southbound when he was struck by a northbound 2017 Dodge Caravan that crossed into the southbound lane.
 
As a result, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His name was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, the Dodge carrying three people traveled down an embankment. The driver, a 34-year-old Fillmore woman, sustained minor injuries including cuts to her right leg and complaint of pain.
 
The other two people in the Dodge were unharmed.
 
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to call the CHP’s Ventura office at 805-662-2640.
