Rider Dies after Colliding with Sedan on 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa

 
COSTA MESA, CA (August 14, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa Saturday afternoon on August 12.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:19 p.m. along the northbound 55 Freeway under the HOV flyover to the 405 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcycle was splitting lanes when it collided with a sedan.
 
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
