Suzuki Rider Running Red Light Dies in Crash at Palm and Hawaii Avenues

 
OTAY MESA, CA (April 3, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed in a broadside accident at Palm Avenue and Hawaii Avenue in Otay Mesa on Thursday evening.
 
The accident happened shortly before 6:55 p.m. on March 30. According to the San Diego Police Department, the victim was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Palm Avenue at a high rate of speed when they failed to stop for a red light and broadsided into a Toyota Corolla sedan.
 
The 89-year-old female driver of the sedan was heading west on Palm Avenue. She had a green light when she made a left turn to go south on Hawaii Avenue.
 
As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
It is unknown if the driver of the sedan sustained injuries from the crash.
 
The department’s traffic division is investigating the collision and anyone with information related to it was asked to call 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
