Motorcyclist Struck, Killed by Oakland BART Train after Accident near Northgate Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (September 19, 2022) — A motorcyclist was hit and killed by a BART train after a crash near Northgate Avenue and 24th Street on Friday.
 
According to officials, the fatal incident happened around 4:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, the motorcyclist lost control of his bike as he tried to cross Northgate Avenue. Instead, he struck a curb and flew off his motorcycle and landed on the train tracks where an oncoming BART train struck him.
 
The 35-year-old Oakland – man whose name has not been released – died at the scene.
 
By 6:30 p.m., BART trains headed for Antioch in Richmond ran at a limited capacity until 9:30 p.m. when full service was restored.
 
At this time, authorities have not completely pieced together the events of this accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.
