Police Arrest DUI Hit-and-Run Suspect after Crashing into Deputy on Motorcycle on Perris Boulevard

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (November 7, 2023) – A motorcycle officer was hurt in a DUI hit-and-run crash at Perris Boulevard and Eucalyptus Avenue in Moreno Valley on Saturday morning.
 
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on November 4. According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Moreno Valley Station attempted to stop a black Nissan Altima for allegedly speeding on Perris Boulevard.
 
The suspect driver crashed into a white Chevrolet pickup truck and then attempted to flee northbound on Perris Boulevard. He then intentionally stopped, causing the deputy to collide into the rear of the car, disabling the motorcycle.
 
After the second crash, the suspect fled the scene but was later caught and detained.
 
The deputy on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries from the crash.
 
Neither the driver nor the occupants of the first crash were injured.

Deputies later determined that the suspect driver was under the influence of drugs. They booked him at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, reckless evading law enforcement, driving under the influence of drugs and hit and run.
