Samantha Tarango Seriously Injured in Deadly Jamestown Crash
JAMESTOWN, CA (July 3, 2021) – Michael Bowers died in a rollover accident on Rawhide Road in Jamestown Friday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:25 p.m. on July 2, just west of Pulpit Rock Road near the turnoff from Highway 108. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 45-year-old Sonora man was driving a 2001 Ford Focus westbound with his passenger, 34-year-old Samantha Tarango of Sonora.
For unknown reasons, Bowers allowed his vehicle to travel off the north shoulder where it crashed into a tree. After striking the tree, the Focus rolled over down an embankment where it eventually came to rest.
As a result, Bowers suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Paramedics airlifted Tarango to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries.
This fatal crash is still under investigation, and alcohol and drugs are suspected to be a factor.
