Early Morning High-Speed Crash in Moreno Valley Leaves 2 Drivers Dead

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 22, 2023) – Marlon Velasquez and Luis Anton were killed in a high-speed crash in Moreno Valley early Monday morning on June 19.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Lasselle Street at Calle Agua. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a 2001 Toyota Celica was going southbound on Lasselle at a high rate of speed when it struck the center median. It then traveled over it and entered opposing traffic lanes.
 
A 2008 Nissan Maxima was heading north when the Toyota suddenly appeared in its path. The Toyota slammed head-on into the Nissan.
 
As a result, the two drivers both died at the scene.
 
Authorities identified Velazquez, 26, and Anton, 37, as the fatal victims. Both were Moreno Valley residents.
 
No other occupants were inside the two cars.
 
It is still unclear which of the drivers was speeding prior to the crash. It is also unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
